Letters To and From the Field
Letters to and from the Field is a living archive, rooted in the radical traditions of abolitionists, civil rights leaders, truth-tellers, and freedom dreamers who wrote the world they longed to see. Inspired by their letters, essays, speeches, and declarations, this collection gathers the voices of those working today at the sacred intersection of housing, community, economic justice, and democracy.
Here, housing practitioners, community stewards, organizers, and economic developers share not just best practices, but hard-won wisdom, quiet courage, and bold vision. These letters are offerings, part love song, part blueprint, part battle cry, for those building power from the ground up and dreaming the next world into being.
Each entry is both mirror and map, carrying the spirit of collective liberation forward, one word, one neighborhood, one possibility at a time.
Introduction
Together, we can reimagine what gets shared and scaled, how voices are heard, and how true transformation happens.
